Pride Fort Lauderdale 2025

Pride Fort Lauderdale, formerly known as Pride South Florida, is the oldest Pride celebration in Florida, dating back to 1977. Born from protest in response to Anita Bryant’s “Save Our Children” campaign, which falsely portrayed LGBTQ+ people as child molesters and succeeded in repealing Miami’s anti-discrimination ordinance, Pride Fort Lauderdale has grown into a powerful symbol of unity and resilience.
Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1993, Pride Fort Lauderdale continues to unite and amplify the voices, talents, and visions of our diverse community, culminating in the annual Pride Parade and Festival.
Funding for these events primarily comes from festival ticket sales, beverage sales, sponsorships, and exhibitor fees. These resources help us advance our mission to foster pride, equality, and respect for LGBTQ+ communities—locally, nationally, and globally.
In 2017, for its 40th anniversary, Pride Fort Lauderdale moved to the stunning Fort Lauderdale Beach, drawing a record crowd of 40,000. In 2019, the city made history with its first-ever parade along scenic State Route A1A (renamed Gay1A), attracting nearly 35,000 spectators.
Pride is both a celebration and a protest—an opportunity to take a stand against oppression and celebrate the strength, resilience, and pride of the LGBTQ+ community. In South Florida, Pride Fort Lauderdale remains one of the largest Pride festivals in the state, drawing thousands each year.
Each year, we strive to create an exceptional Pride Festival that celebrates the Fort Lauderdale community. We also ensure year-round visibility and support through successful events, mobilising volunteers, and partnering with corporate sponsors, community organisations, and donors. Together, we work to enrich lives, foster inclusivity, and promote diversity for all.
