About	Salford Pride was first founded in 2011, as the organising committee for the first Peel Park Pink Picnic. In 2017, after 7 years of organising Salford’s annual Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Trans and Non-binary, plus (LGBTQ+) pride celebration, the decision was made to change the name of the event to The Pink Picnic, the following year, in 2018, the organisation was renamed Salford Pride. The decision behind the change of name was to allow the team to deliver alternative projects for the LGBTQ+ community throughout the year as well as The Pink Picnic. Salford Pride became a registered charity in England and Wales on 20th January 2020. Salford Pride delivers Salford’s annual pride event, The Pink Picnic, and other fundraising, awareness and educational projects for the LGBTQ+ community that are open to all to attend and enjoy – no matter how they identify; promoting equality, inclusion and community cohesion.
Other Information	Salford Pride is a voluntary-led organisation, our team is made up of volunteers from the local LGBTQ+ community and allies. The Salford Pride committee work to facilitate, plan and deliver events throughout the year including our flagship event, The Pink Picnic. As well as to promote education, advice and raise awareness of LGBTQ+ history, culture and issues that effect LGBTQ+ people, in partnership with other organisations, in the fight for equality. More about who we are here. Salford Pride is Governed by a Board of Trustees who have independent oversight of the organisation. Our volunteers work in collaboration with our Board of Trustees to deliver our charities core aims and overall mission.
